We are looking for a Marine Engineer with previous experience of wharf design to work on a project for a leading consultancy company. For a twelve-week contract, you will redesign an existing wharf to enable its use for transportation. You will need to be able to commute to London although where possible you will be able to work from home. In the context of these meetings, the role involves the analyses of developing maritime/shipping issues to draft papers, prepare policies and actively present positions taken by the Maritime Authority.

Marine Engineer Surveyor, Shanghai

Technical and Compliance Officer, London

A successful London based Maritime Authority is seeking a Technical & Compliance Officer to join the small team of professionals in the Inspections and Surveys Department.

This is an office-based role providing technical support and advice to owners, managers and recognised organisations. You will be overseeing the response and management of Port State Control inspections, and the operation of the Ship registry’s inspection programme.

This role is suitable for a Chief Engineer or Master Mariner.
Audit experience would be advantageous.

A logical thinking, safety orientated person is required who must have a wide knowledge of the International Maritime Conventions and Codes. You must have excellent communication skills and be decisive and proactive in your approach.

All candidates must have EU working entitlement.

Crewing Officer, Essex

We are currently seeking a maritime professional, ideally with previous crewing experience for an exciting Crewing Officer role with a crew management services company based in Essex.

Within this role, you will report into the Managing Director and Fleet Director and be responsible for the daily crewing operations of a fleet of vessels owned by first-class ship owners. The fleet consists of modern passenger, bulk, container and general cargo vessels.

Other duties will include maintaining accurate records, verifying crew certificates, processing of ship accounts and crew wages.

You will also keep up-to-date with maritime and flag state legislation.

To be suitable for this role you will ideally have some crewing experience however, we can also consider deck officers who are looking to step ashore.

Experience with passenger vessels is advantageous.

Country Manager, West Africa

The main purpose of this role is to lead and manage the operations of your assigned region, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service.

Reporting to the Regional Director, you will provide dynamic leadership to ensure achievement of agreed operational targets with safety being at the forefront of all activities.

Marine Superintendent, Bulk Carriers, Norway

Spinnaker is working on the opportunity to become a Marine Superintendent with a client of ours, a well-renowned maritime company based in Norway.

The candidate we are looking for should be willing to work in a team, be friendly, and should be passionate about what they do in order to perform efficiently.

You will form a team of five other Marine Superintendents and report directly to the Marine Manager, in order to assist the company with their plans of expanding their current fleet of Bulk Carriers.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Ensure cargo and ballast procedures are implemented properly
• Ensure navigation procedures meet industry standards and are implemented correctly
• Monitor vessel operations for compliance
• Coordinate and arrange all inspections (vetting, CDI, Flag State Control, Port State Control, etc.)
• Coordinate registration and handover of new vessels
• Maintain effective communication with Marine Manager and vessel Manager on all issues
• When onboard vessels, act as an advisor in regards to navigation, mooring and cargo operations

The ideal candidate should have both shore-based and sea-going experience with bulk carriers and have previously worked within a ship management company or a shipowner.

EU working entitlement is essential.
