It is an ideal position for either a seagoing engineer to start their career ashore, or an individual with maritime engineering knowledge to develop an advisory career within regulatory affairs. This role will see you actively participate at IMO Committees and Sub-Committees, on behalf of ICS, where you will contribute to shaping future maritime regulatory requirements. You will also contribute to the development of publications and guidance for Companies in matters of regulatory compliance associated with International Shipping. Reporting to the Principal Director of Marine, you will be joining a great team of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals. You will work with the Technical and Nautical Directors, and alongside other team members for the development and implementation of policy. There will also be the opportunity to work on other technical areas as required. It is a position that will see you become expert on matters relating to technical operations, safety, and environmental issues for the ICS. Previous experience of working on board ships, as an engineer is preferred, but not essential. However, you will be required to have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of marine engineering, environmental and technical operations. You will be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for the maritime industry, regulatory affairs, and policy implementation and your ability to write, and orally present information in English to an exceptional standard will be paramount to your success. This is a full-time, permanent position and the ICS are based in Seething Lane, London.
