Naval Architect, UK

Spinnaker has partnered with a leading shipping organisation based in the UK to find a Naval Architect.

You will need to have at least 5 years’ experience as Project Lead for drydockings and Newbuildings, you will have a good working knowledge and solid technical know-how within ship design across all vessel types, supported by detailed working knowledge and understanding of class, flag and other regulatory/statutory requirements.

You will need to have a high level of analytical skills and strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement, together with excellent negotiation skills.

There will also be scope for development in the next 5 years which will include a greater involvement into the New Building and Energy Efficiency sectors /or as a Fleet Manager.

You must possess unrestricted UK working entitlement and be able to travel at short notice.

Marine Personnel Officer (Bulk), London

Use your attention to detail to ensure that only suitably qualified seafarers are sent to the vessels at the most cost-effective ports, taking into account the commercial activity of the vessel.

With at least three years’ experience within the industry and a good understanding of STCW95, national and flag state documentation, you will also have a good understanding of certificate requirements for different types of vessels, but with a particular focus on dry bulk vessels.

This senior-level position will oversee and be responsible for the fleet’s entire sourcing of potential suppliers within the chosen category Partnership Services (Hotels, Travel, Agencies Crew), managing the supplier database, assisting with the annual procurement strategy, meeting category saving targets, driving continuous improvement across the department and being accountable for leading the negotiations.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have proven success in a Senior Procurement position (Ideally in Category Management), an in-depth understanding of operational requirements in the shipping industry and finally, a Bachelor’s in Maritime, Supply Chain Management or related fields.

The role will involve undertaking various Loss Prevention initiatives and ensuring all relevant parties are notified accordingly. A key responsibility of this role will be the identification of key trends in claims and suggesting appropriate loss prevention methods.
