P&I Salary Survey

Home » Salary Reports » P&I Salary Reports

Comprehensive salary analysis for maritime insurance professionals

Companies who provide marine liability cover and classify themselves as a P&I club are invited to participate in the survey.

The report includes roles in claims, both legally qualified and non-qualified, underwriting and loss prevention from junior to director level, as well as roles in corporate services and the senior leadership team.

The report includes locations such as Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Singapore, UK and the USA

The salary survey methodology

Spinnaker’s biennial annual salary reports are made up of salary and bonus data from employees from P&I companies worldwide.

These companies provide Spinnaker with anonymised salary, allowance and bonus data for all shore-based employees, which is then included in the survey.

Alongside the benchmarking of base salaries, total compensation and bonuses, the report also includes projected salary and bonus spend, and analysis of common benefits such as pensions, death in service, medical insurance, leave and other well-being initiatives.

What is included in the P&I salary reports?

  • Salary and bonus data from 11 P&I clubs
  • Salary and bonus data representing 3,000 shore-based employees.
  • 10 country reports including Greece, Hong Kong, UK and USA.
  • 8 job families. Including Underwriting, Loss Prevention, Risk & Compliance and In-house Counsel
  • 4 sets of reports are available to all participants. Salary, fixed cash, bonus and total compensation.

Who would benefit from the P&I Salary Reports?

Companies who are members of the International Group of P&I Clubs or companies who provide marine liability cover are invited to participate in the survey. The survey is produced every 2 years.

Gard have used Spinnaker’s services for around fifteen years. During that time we have found their staff to be friendly, helpful and realistic, with an up-to-date working knowledge of the shipping, maritime and marine insurance markets. Gard has commissioned regular salary surveys from them, as well as having received assistance with recruitment, at both junior and senior levels. Whilst our own staff retention levels are high, Spinnaker is the company to whom we would turn should we require advice on any recruitment or staff retention issues. We would recommend them for your consideration.
