IT has been said that the true test of a vocation is the love of the drudgery it involves.
So began Changing Course issue 1, back in June 2001. Nearly 10 years on, Changing Course is distributed to nearly 20,000 shipping professionals each month. We know that some of you are kind souls and read and comment on our efforts and we thank you!
This New Year edition comes to you after a year when kidnap hostages have doubled and in a week when UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is in London to address the piracy problem. We look at 2011 pay rises, the European Commission investigation into the P&I sector, shipping market confidence, the reefer recovery, crew quality, piracy and our former Chairman Michael Grey has a rant about things seagoing.
As the end of January rushes upon us, we wish all our readers, clients and all of you who are looking for a new beginning with a new employer a happy and healthy New Year.
