AS the Posidonia shipping event draws ever closer and participants prepare to put their livers under maximum strain, we gather the trade show looks like being even more packed out than usual.

Participation from Far Eastern concerns is up 45% from the last Posidonia exhibition two years ago as Far Eastern yards compete to take advantage of a spate of new building orders, particularly from Greek companies.

As the maritime world continues to worry about over-tonnaging post the boom time, one has to wonder what prices are being offered for the next generation of new builds, but it looks like a lively Posidonia is on the cards even if the yard employees have to stay in cheaper hotels.
