Women in leadership

ARE women good leaders? That was the question debated at the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association on Tuesday evening at law firm Reed Smith’s headquarters.

Chairing the session was the redoubtable Jim Davidson, chairman of the International Maritime Industries Forum, who doubtless came armed with a selection of Irish jokes. Pity the poor fool who had the dodgy task of saying women don’t make good leaders? Ouch. They do of course, but we wonder about the use of positive discrimination, as they do in Norway, to redress the boardroom gender imbalance.
