UNDERSTANDING ENGINEERS – TAKE TWO

Engineers and deck officers may not always see eye to eye. This is our second attempt to explain what happens in the engine room.

To the optimist, the glass is half full.

To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.

To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

With the existing approach to engine room design going for maximum redundancy, we wonder if this maxim still holds true.
