40: HOUSING costs in Dubai have fallen by about 40 per cent in many parts of the Emirate. Before the recession a two bed apartment in a decent suburb had shot above AED150k p.a. and many apartments that were renting for AED100k only a couple of years earlier had hit AED180k. At that time it was getting very hard to attract staff into jobs in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Not so now. Many employers raised housing allowances two or three years ago and over-supply of housing stock has sent prices way back down, making this tax-free haven once again an attractive proposition. Source: Dubai of course!
