MARKET COMMENTARY – JUNE 2011

Just a week to go to the Dry Bulk Shipping Insight event and the 2011 Annual Membership Meeting of The Maritime HR Forum. Read on below for more information on both.

Read on also for news of the OSCAR Campaign – for which the shipping industry has donated a staggering £120,000 in less than two months – and for the latest from our candidate on the run with half a million dollars in overpaid interview expenses. And if you are a steam qualified engineer or know a man-who-can then cast your eye over the article Steam Queen. The world's last seagoing paddle steamer needs you.

And, congratulations to Spinnaker's Amy Travell, who won a cruise at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers' Centenary Dinner – see below for news of a new book about the history of the ICS – fascinating reading (honestly, we've got one!).

It was a week of big events as some 600 people turned up to the annual Chairman's cocktail reception of the Baltic Exchange. Our thanks to Baltic Chairman Mark Jackson who has thrown his weight behind the OSCAR Campaign and whose speech brought forward supporters on the night!
