Jobs for the boys eh? Not any more!
In yet another move that suggests the boys in shipping are becoming ever more enlightened, Spinnaker is delighted to announce that the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) have appointed Julie Lithgow as their next Director. This follows INTERTANKO´S appointment of Kathi Stanzel as Deputy Managing Director late in 2010. Spinnaker Consulting handled the recruitment for both positions.
Julie has a significant track record and management experience within the maritime industry. Previously with the Nautical Institute and shipping services group V.Holdings, she is currently Head of Business Intelligence at Pole Star Space Applications which includes work with the European Naval Force in the Gulf of Aden as part of the naval response process to vessel attacks on commercial shipping.
A graduate in Maritime Business with Maritime Law from the University of Plymouth, Julie is a committee member of PYNDA, the Plymouth Nautical Degree Association, she remains a member of The Nautical Institute, Chatham House and is one of the founding members of the World Ocean Council.
Spinnaker knows Julie well as one of the most committed and ethical professionals in shipping. She was selected from among strong competition for the role and we wholeheartedly endorse the ICS´ view that "…with her unique combinations of business, maritime and senior management skills [she] will bring a new vision and energy that the Institute needs at this time to take it forward from the start of its second century."
Spinnaker was very pleased to work with the ICS on this assignment. The vacancy attracted considerable interest and on behalf of the Institute we would like to thank the many excellent people who applied for the role for their interest and enthusiasm. Julie will commence her new role during September and we wish her well.
