In the UK, the tax authorities are warning employers not to use their official CD Rom to run their payroll systems. They must get an updated disc.
This follows hot on the heels of the admission that 1.4 million people have been charged the wrong amount of tax under the UK's pay as you earn system.
Use the official CD Rom and presumably you'll pay the wrong tax this year too. One senior chap, whose job title we don't understand, said in a radio interview that "I'm not sure I see a need to apologise. He has since said he is "deeply sorry."
Oh dear, if it wasn't so important it would be hilarious.
