Women in command

Celebrating women in the shipping industry, WISTA (the Women's International Shipping and Trading Association) will be hosting a day of fascinating insight into seafaring life during London International Shipping Week.

Taking place on Monday 7 September at City Hall, London, the event kicks off with a seminar on Women in Command featuring female speakers with experience as Master Mariners, Pilots, Surveyors, Lawyers and Chief Engineers.

A Cream Tea networking session will follow, along with a presentation in conjunction with the Port of London Authority on 'Old Father Thames' which should lift the lid on what really happens on the River Thames.

The evening will end with a glitzy auction (silent!) for both SeaVision and the OSCAR campaign, two WISTA charities.

WISTA champions women in the shipping industry through a variety of networking opportunities across the world. The organisation is run by volunteers who have a passion for equality in shipping, and spreading awareness of our industry.

It's worth noting that this will be worth attending whether you're male or female! This event is free to attend but please book your place now by emailing Sue Terpilowski at [email protected] – we think it’s going to be a great day.
