After a long summer here in the UK, it hardly seems possible that we are at the end of October again and ready to publish our 13th set of annual shore-based salary survey reports. It is so interesting to look back and see just where we have come over the years. Comparing the days when I was myself a recipient to where we are now is wonderful in that we have been able to respond to members requests for a wider range of reports. Not only has the number of job families increased, the number of locations we can report has increased significantly too and we are pleased that Malaysia is a new location for 2019. A big thank you to our Maritime HR Association members who participated this year for your continued membership and support.
This year, 90 companies participated in the survey, reporting data for more than 30,000 maritime industry professionals in 100 countries. Another year when we can say ‘our biggest survey yet!’ Across the industry we have seen a significant number of changes, from mergers, closures and staff reductions to expansions and business function relocations globally; all gleaned from the data members share with us.
We always promote that good data is a prerequisite for good decisions, so members of the Maritime HR Association are already one step ahead! At a time when we are seeing so much change in the industry, the importance of trusted and robust salary benchmarking data is increasingly important. Association members receive the most comprehensive shore-based salary and compensation data available in the shipping industry. We are continually in search for new members and are in dialogue with a wealth of people across the industry. The more data we have the more we can report, which ultimately benefits everyone. If you have companies or key contacts that you would like us to connect with, please let us know and do help us to spread the word.
For any Association members reading this note, please look out for this year’s Salary Survey webinars to assist you with interpreting the reports. These are pre-recorded so you have the opportunity to go back and listen again, share with others in your organisation, or play ‘catch up’ at a time that suits you.
As always, Spinnaker’s benchmarking team is on hand to offer further help, so please do keep get in touch by phone +44 (0)1702 481660 or email at [email protected].
