Offshore wind – potential for increase employment

Spinnaker Global has a dedicated recruitment team who source the best candidates in wind, solar power, biomass and wave energy.

Lawrance Bresslaw, our Business Development Director, visited the most easterly point of the UK, OrbisEnergy in Lowestoft, Suffolk, to hear the latest views on the offshore wind sector . The East of England is a region poised for further development and investment within the offshore wind sector. £5 billion has already been put into the region, with another £15 billion pledged to develop a secure energy supply for the UK.

Post EU referendum, it seems pertinent that the companies speaking at this event have targets that 50% of their suppliers should be based in the UK to help boost the economy. Growth in offshore wind in the East of England will also support the economy by providing jobs for the region and extra work for the ports.

It was inspiring to hear about the great potential for employment within offshore wind in the East of England,” said Lawrance Bresslaw after the event. “We’re speaking to clients and candidates in the offshore wind sector every day, and it’s encouraging to be in a room with others who can see its bright future.

From Scottish Power, 3Sun and JDR Cables to Associated British Ports, there was a host of inspiring speakers, and it was even more appropriate that the venue overlooked the site of proposed offshore wind farms.”
