SPINNAKER veteran, Michele Hawkins, has been appointed as Director of Spinnaker’s HR Consulting Services business.

A market-leading global shipping recruitment company, Spinnaker has also operated a separate business providing salary benchmarking advice for a variety of clients for many years and formed the Maritime HR Forum in 2005, now the industry's leading source of worldwide compensation and benefits data.

The Maritime HR Forum has almost 60 members (shipowners, shipmanagers, oil companies and commodity groups). In addition Spinnaker provides a range of HR services to shipping clients worldwide including expert witness advice, employment dispute mediation, outsourced HR projects and talent management / career path planning.

Spinnaker’s Chairman, Phil Parry, commented: “I’m delighted to announce Michele’s appointment as Director of our HR Consulting Services business. Whilst independent from our recruitment business, we have always felt that the trust which a great many clients place in us to handle their confidential salary and HR information demonstrates the integrity which we believe sets us apart. As such, Michele, with twelve years’ loyal service at Spinnaker, is the perfect person to take on a role which is so important to our reputation.”

Michele Hawkins explains that, “In 1997, when Spinnaker was established, HR professionals were a rarity in shipping. The industry has very definitely caught up in recent years and employs a raft of HR specialists. They demand accurate salary data and specialist shipping-related advice in areas such as talent management and career path planning, especially as staff retention and skills shortages have become such a big issue. This is a significant and growing part of our business.”

Spinnaker’s HR Consulting Services team is expanding and currently recruiting a new member of staff with shipping experience. For details, click here!
