Spinnaker named Maritime UK Diversity Awards finalist

Spinnaker finalists for Maritime UK Diversity Award

Spinnaker is delighted to have been named as a finalist for the Maritime UK Diversity Award.

Diversity and inclusion is something we are passionate about at Spinnaker. Spinnaker is secretariat to the Maritime HR Association which analyses salary data for 100 shipping company members. This data calculates and tracks the gender pay gap in maritime, supporting maritime CEOs and HR professionals to reduce the gap within their businesses. From these studies, we have been able to share that the gender pay gap within maritime is currently over 47%.

At our annual Spinnaker Maritime HR Conference we host global senior executives and HR professionals from the industry, and diversity and inclusion is a main agenda item with the aim to inform, educate, discuss and share.

In 2017 we introduced the company ‘Diversity and Ability’ to the maritime world and work in partnership promoting their area of specialism. A number of companies have embarked on global D&I strategy plans with them as a result.

Spinnaker’s leadership and management development training is designed with a Total Inclusion theme throughout. Over 4 years our Maritime Leadership Development Programme attendance has supported company diversity goals e.g. nationalities, religion, gender, culture, covering sea and shore and supporting industries. We have also delivered Unconscious Bias workshops and developed a Career Development Programme for Women. Our Personality Profiling tools can all be compared by nationality, supporting respect and appreciation of difference.

It is a great achievement to be named as a finalist for a Diversity Award by Maritime UK and we congratulate our fellow finalists Royal Fleet Auxiliary and BAE Systems!
