Chief Engineer bear visits Spinnaker

The Spinnaker offices received a VIP visit this month. Thanks to the lovely people at officercadet.com we saw the arrival of Chief Engineer bear Oliver Doxford. Initially sailing on the Maersk Laberinto he even stuck around to help build the latest Lego Triple E!

The purpose of the bears travelling to shipping companies worldwide is to promote awareness of the shipping industry in a fun, digestible way. We think it's a great idea.

Our friend arrived at Spinnaker in a box with a bon voyage note from the Mission to Seafarers, along with a Mars bar for the journey. He explored the offices right away, before getting stuck in to working at one of our hot desks, then attending a board meeting.

There was downtime for Oliver too, reading and listening to music in our breakout area. Then, Spinnaker chairman Phil Parry took him on a seaside adventure at the weekend; playing on Southend beach, going to our hometown's famous ice cream parlour, and even hanging out in a 1955 Porsche Speedster. Alright for some!

After the fun and games of the weekend, Oliver was back in the office, attending our staff training sessions, which were both fun and informative for our fuzzy friend. Photos of Oliver's Spinnaker trip can be found on our Pinterest board.

He's now winging his way to SIRC, the Seafarers International Research Centre, part of the Cardiff University School of Social Sciences. We look forward to seeing his new adventures there…
