It's always nice to deliver good news around this festive time of year. We're delighted that the OSCAR Campaign (the Ocean and Shipping Community Advancing Children's Health & Research) has finally reached £1million in fundraising.
A million! What an achievement. Considering the rollercoaster year it's been in shipping, the Campaign raised a staggering amount at the Dragon Boat Race in the Autumn – over £100,000 in a single day. Incredible.
Launched by Spinnaker's Chairman Phil Parry in conjunction with Great Ormond Street, where his son Oscar received life-saving care, the campaign raises vital funds into research for children with leukaemia and other childhood diseases. It really is essential work. So for any of you who have donated over the years; whether it's for Movember, the Dragon Boat Race, or any of the other fundraising ventures: THANK YOU. From Phil, Spinnaker, Great Ormond Street, and OSCAR.
Here's to the next million, eh?
