Developing future maritime leaders

Spinnaker Global's HR Consulting division has set the date for the first Maritime Leadership Development Programme to Maritime HR Association members.

The programme includes a 2 day workshop taking place in Singapore on 7th & 8th December 2016, but it’s actually 4 month programme designed specifically to help the maritime industry address some of the industry’s common people issues through:

• Improved management and leadership capabilities;
• Identification and development of talent for junior and senior management positions;
• Energised and engaged employees, and
• High performing teams.

The programme is built around the personality profiling tool Facet5. It focuses on self-awareness; with recognition of individual leadership strengths and understanding of how to mitigate risks as leaders.

With enhanced leadership skills, participants will be able to engage and develop their staff to achieve more – and improve their understanding and capability of how to manage their own career. It will be delivered through 3 key stages:

1. Pre-programme assessment with Facet5 personality profiling – providing managers with a moment for self-reflection and to agree their personal development objectives to work on during the programme.

2. 2 day group workshop – focussing on ‘knowing and managing myself as a leader’, and leading and managing others.

3. One to one coaching support – three further 1:1 coaching sessions providing on-going support at an individual level to encourage progress against personal goals and embed lessons learnt.
