Calling all golfers! Get in the swing in support of the OSCAR Campaign

The OSCAR campaign will be centre stage at The Brun Bear Foundation Annual Golf Day which takes place on Wednesday 21st June 2023 at the Royal Blackheath Golf Club, the oldest golf club in the UK! The Maritime Industry is called upon to take advantage of the early bird rate and sign up joining those maritime and offshore companies that have already confirmed their places and support!

The event is being organised by The Brun Bear Foundation, a registered charity set up by Riviera Maritime Media’s Edwin Lampert in memory of his father. The Brun Bear Foundation is a long-term supporter of the OSCAR campaign. This support has spanned financial donations, gifting children’s books to Great Ormond Street Hospital and also visiting and doing in person book readings. Many of you may have met – and even purchased books from Edwin at OSCAR Dragon Boat Races.

A truly magnificent day – for golfers and non-golfers alike has been organised.

Golfers can look forward to a par 71 course, with excellent fairways and well positioned bunkers, making it a great test of golfing prowess. It has a testing slope rating of 128 when played from the back tees.

Teams of four will aim to accumulate the highest team points total by the end of play. The best two scores from the group will count on each hole, rather than a combined total of all four players. In addition, there will be nearest-the-pin and longest-drive challenges along the way.

The day also includes a VIP guided tour of the museum where participants can learn about the UK’s oldest golf clubs storied past, a rum tasting, three course meal and auction.

Spinnaker chairman  Phil Parry will attend, update on The OSCAR Campaign, and also preside over one of the auction lots, and the OSCAR campaign will receive the winning bid. The golf day will also benefit a mix of community, other medical and animal welfare projects.

“21 companies took part in our September Boatrace and so many people commented on the wonderful atmosphere and value in getting together,” said Phil. “Let’s not leave it until September before we all get together again in support of a great cause! The beauty of the June 21st day is that both golfers and non-golfers can take part. So don’t delay get those early bird tickets today!”
