Marine Supers pip Port Captains to the post

Did you know that Marine Superintendents earn more than HSEQ staff and Port Captains? Actually, there's not much of a difference and all three jobs tend to hire people with backgrounds as Master Mariners, but we often see Chief Officers going into port captaincy due to their experience being responsible for cargo management on board ship.

Nevertheless, data for the Maritime HR Forum run by Spinnaker Consulting shows that across the industry, people with the Marine Superintendent job title tend to earn around 11% more than those with some kind of HSEQ job title and around 15% more than Port Captains. Justified? You tell us.
