This year, Spinnaker HR Consulting Services has got off to a blinding start. New members and new staff on the way… it's looking good for 2014!
The Maritime HR Forum was set up in 2005 in response to demand from shipping HR professionals for accurate benchmarking data. The Forum is unique, and is the most comprehensive and reliable source of shipping-specific compensation and benefits data available to marine employers. With over seventy shipping employer members, the Forum benchmarks global shore staff salaries, bonuses and benefits globally – reporting on data from some 8,000 shipping professionals.
Director Michele Hawkins (right) explains that, "In 1997, when Spinnaker was established, HR professionals were a rarity in shipping. The industry has very definitely caught up in recent years and employs a raft of HR specialists. They demand accurate salary data and specialist shipping-related advice in areas such as talent management and career path planning, especially as staff retention and skills shortages have become such a big issue. This is a significant and growing part of our business."
The team has expanded to include two Compensation and Benefits Consultants, Emily and Amanda, alongside Michele and Spinnaker Chairman Phil Parry (also right), and the team are also seeking a new member of staff to join them.
