Have you signed up for the Dragon Boat?

Has your company signed up for the Dragon Boat race during London International Shipping Week?

The event, the second shipping industry OSCAR Dragon Boat race, is taking place on 11th September in London’s Docklands as the climax to LISW.

There is space for 6 more teams this year, meaning that 30 teams will race to raise money to fund life-saving research into childhood cancers and immune diseases. Teams already signed up this year include A.M.Nomikos, Augustea Shipping, North of England P&I, Holman Fenwick Willan, Ince & Co, Clyde and Co and Lomar Shipping. There is a £500 registration fee per team to cover costs and then a suggested fundraising target – some teams raise the funds themselves, some are fund-matched by their employers and some companies simply donate. There are also sponsorship opportunities with or without team entry for those who can’t get a team together and there will be a mixed team or two for any groups of less than 11.

Last year the event, which attracted over 400 rowers and spectators, and which was sponsored by the Liberian Registry / LISCR, raised over £120,000.

This year, Tradewinds has come on board as our media supporter (a massive thank you to them) and there will be celebrity Olympic guests and bands on hand to entertain throughout the day. If you fancy your chances in a static row against an Olympian, now’s your chance!

We’d love to have you involved in the Dragon Boat this year. As well as the fundraising, it’s a great opportunity to get your colleagues involved with London International Shipping Week, it’s a good networking event, good team building and a lot of fun.
