What is green finance?

Green finance in shipping week

During London International Shipping Week DfT and Maritime London are hosting Green Finance, supporting a zero emission maritime future.

With an opening address from the Minister for Maritime, Nusrat Ghani, the event will include an overview of how the green finance market has developed, how “green” products are evolving, and how they can be utilised to meet the UK’s net-zero carbon target.

There will also be a panel discussion on clean technologies featuring Paul Taylor, Global Head of Shipping, Société Générale, Tony Foster, CEO, Marine Capital and Stephen Fewster, Global Head of Shipping Finance, ING, Katharine Palmer, Global Head of Sustainability, Marine & Offshore, Lloyd’s Register and chaired by Lindsey Keeble, Global Maritime Sector Head, Watson Farley & Williams and a Partner in the Asset Finance group in London.

This panel discussion explores how the UK can bridge the gap between finance and emerging technologies in the maritime arena. It focuses on how investment opportunities in technologies are identified and how allocations are made. The session examines how external and internal pressures can influence these decisions and the role that green criteria can play.

The event takes place on 11 September in the Leadenhall Building, 5-6.30pm. To find out more, visit https://londoninternationalshippingweek.com/event/dft-and-maritime-london-present-green-finance-supporting-a-zero-emission-maritime-future/
