WISTA-UK, the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association, will be launching a Southampton Chapter (branch) in March 2016 at Lloyds Register’s new premises in Southampton.

WISTA provides a global support network for women throughout the shipping industry, both from the wet and dry side, to meet and discuss work related issues. It provides members with an opportunity to learn from each other and the wider industry through educational events, such as seminars and conferences, as well as informal social meetings.

WISTA-UK was established in 1972 and is the longest running WISTA globally. The Southampton Chapter will provide interested women and men from that location easy access to the WISTA network and the benefits of support, education and inspiration that the WISTA membership provides, locally, regionally and internationally.

The local WISTA Southampton team will be headed up by Dr Kate Pike, with Emma Broadhurst and Natalie Vigar from Southampton Solent University, and Teresa Stevens of Guardian.

The WISTA-UK Southampton team are hoping to welcome many new members to their chapter, from management to cadet level, both women and men. Please visit www.wista-uk.net for further information about the launch event.
