As part of our 30 Under 30 initiative, we’re celebrating the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the maritime industry. Next up is Tyler Green, Global Chartering Administrator at CEVA Logistics, and a standout emerging talent who has rapidly established himself within the highly specialised world of breakbulk and project cargo chartering.

Working within CEVA Logistics’ project cargo chartering desk in London, Tyler’s responsibilities extend far beyond what his job title might suggest. Within just six months of joining the team, he was independently managing the full fixture cycle, from canvassing the market and negotiating directly with shipowners to securing breakbulk and heavy lift fixtures and overseeing them through to completion. His role requires a strong understanding of commercial negotiations, contractual requirements, and the operational complexities involved in moving specialist project cargo around the world.

Tyler’s progress over the past year has been particularly impressive. In less than seven months in the role, he successfully negotiated and fixed more than ten breakbulk and project cargo shipments, including seven during 2026 alone. Among these was a complex combination cargo shipment involving transformers for two separate clients travelling from Shanghai to Richards Bay. The fixture required careful consideration of cargo compatibility, load planning, and freight negotiations, while giving Tyler experience handling seven-figure fixtures at an early stage in his chartering career.

Another significant test came when Tyler was entrusted with managing the entire chartering desk independently for a full week. Covering live negotiations across Europe, IMEA, North America, and Latin America, he was responsible for balancing time-sensitive operational matters, commercial negotiations, and legal disputes simultaneously. Taking on this level of responsibility after only a matter of months demonstrated not only how quickly he had developed, but also his composure, judgement, and ability to prioritise in a demanding commercial environment.

His journey into maritime is equally noteworthy. After graduating in 2024 with a degree in International Relations and Business Management, Tyler decided he wanted to pursue a career in shipping but discovered he had missed the recruitment cycle for traditional graduate traineeships. Rather than waiting for the next opportunity, he created his own route into the industry, personally funding an Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Foundation Diploma and studying for his examinations while backpacking through Southeast Asia.

That determination continued once he secured his role at CEVA Logistics. Tyler has since taken responsibility for the IMEA region and has been entrusted as country lead for Turkey, where he has developed direct relationships with shipowners and established communication channels that support the wider chartering desk. Alongside his full-time commercial responsibilities, he has enrolled in four further ICS modules during 2026, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to building his technical and commercial knowledge.

Tyler is also actively developing his network within the wider shipping community, engaging with initiatives including YoungShip London and taking part in the Baltic Exchange Rugby Match. Combined with the mentorship he has received within CEVA Logistics, this willingness to learn from those around him has supported an exceptionally fast start to his maritime career.

Tyler’s journey demonstrates that there is no single route into shipping. Through initiative, self-investment, and a willingness to take on responsibility, he has progressed from studying independently for his first shipping qualification to independently negotiating complex international fixtures in a remarkably short space of time. His commercial drive, rapid development, and appetite to keep learning make him an exciting young talent within the future of maritime chartering.
