We met recently with Mark Bentley, course leader for the new Logistics and Business course at South Essex College. When we discovered this brand new course – which of course includes the shipping industry – we just had to get in touch.
The diploma, launching in September 2014, introduces young people of college age (16-18) to the world of moving goods by ship, plane, and train, showcasing how the UK is playing huge role in global logistics.
We all know that educating young people is essential to increase awareness of our industry, and that it's a viable and exciting career option!
It's also particularly relevant for us at Spinnaker because we are based in Essex, just outside of London, which is home to DP World's London Gateway port. In fact, on a daily basis we see ships heading out from the London Gateway from our offices!
