The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) revealed that record numbers of shipping professionals around the world are opting to sit their exams.
The three most popular places to sit the exams are London (in first place), Athens, and Mombasa, the Kenyan port city.
ICS Director Julie Lithgow (pictured) attributes London being in the lead for the exams to the troubles in Greece, as Athens slipped into second place for the first time this year.
Yet despite this, there is still a strong interest from students there – shipping is still seen (thankfully!) as an attractive industry for them to pursue.
Over 6,000 examinations will be sat in this academic year – a record on previous numbers – and accredited examination centres have also grown by 25%.
