NOW, if you think we're biased in our love of all things P&I, you'd be right. Since Spinnaker was established in 1997, P&I recruitment has been a core part of what we do. Our professional services team have the insurance and legal industry to thank for their very existence no less! Indeed, when we wrote the weekly law page for Lloyd's List newspaper for some years, the very first of our journalistic exertions began with a fervent article in support of the P&I system at the time of the last EU investigation.
But even our slightly rose-tinted view was given a boost last week when the participants at the Piraeus P&I Seminar donated €20,000 Euros between them, split 50/50 between a local charity for the homeless, the Greek Church Food Bank and the OSCAR campaign for Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Our Chairman Phil Parry was on hand to give a short speech on behalf of the OSCAR Campaign, thanking the donors and telling them where their money was going.
Generous donations were made by 7 P&I participants – the West of England, the North of England, Gard, Skuld, A.Bilbrough & Co, The Swedish Club, The American Club – and by Chartworld, Evmar Marine and Tsavliris Salvage.
