NOBODY wants to talk about insolvency during the current climate but it's definitely worth getting some free advice on the legal aspects. Issues on Insolvency Law is the topic for discussion at the next London Shipping Law Centre seminar, due to take place at Moore Stephens' London office on February 22 at 18.00hrs.
It's a complex area. On the agenda are: Forms of cooperation involving insolvency representatives; use of cross-border insolvency agreements; the inter-relationship between the EC Insolvency Regulation and the Judgments Regulation (Madoff Securities Intl v Yacht Bull Corporation); recognition and relief in England in cross-border shipping insolvencies; recognition under US law of foreign liquidation and reorganisation proceedings.
Panellists will include: Phillip Sykes – head of corporate restructuring at Moore Stephens, Vasanti Selvaratnam QC of Stone Chambers, Alan van Praag of Eaton & Van Winkle LLP (New York), Nicholas Woo of Birketts and Stephen Robins of South Square Chambers.
