UNLAWFUL competition and what you can or can't do when it comes to team moves can land you in court.
The High Court ruled before Christmas that three former employees of fixed premium P&I insurer British Marine must wait until April 29 before they can start trading as Lodestar.
The court ruling followed a complaint by British Marine parent QBE that the three employees had breached their contract terms when setting up Lodestar, and were planning the new move while they were still employed by British Marine. Lodestar was originally due to start underwriting last September.
Spinnaker will be issuing a briefing note for employers on the legalities and dos and don'ts of team moves based on recent legal decisions. If you'd like to receive a copy, email [email protected] and we'll send you one when it's published.
