GOOD NEWS! Our good friend Karina Albers has published a free layman’s guide to freight derivatives (FFAs) on the web.
Based in Germany, Karina has launched www.alstertrader.de to explain the fundamentals behind derivatives.
The mechanics of FFAs are demonstrated in simple terms including the indices against which contracts are settled. In an interview with Tradewinds in December 2009 she said: "I have done FFAs since 1997 and people have always been sceptical because they haven´t understood it 100%". This is one step into the right direction to make FFA knowledge easily available to everyone.
