As part of our 30 Under 30 initiative, we’re celebrating the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the maritime industry. Next up is Melina Veisllari, Claims Executive at Zodiac Maritime, and a standout emerging talent making a significant impact through legal expertise, industry engagement, and a passion for developing the next generation of maritime professionals.

Melina plays an important role within Zodiac Maritime’s Legal and Insurance department, supporting both commercial and operational teams in the management of claims and disputes. Working across legal, insurance, and operational functions, she helps ensure matters are handled efficiently while contributing to effective collaboration across the business.

Over the past 12 months, Melina has demonstrated exceptional professional growth, progressing from Technical Assistant to Claims Executive and taking on increased responsibility within the organisation. Alongside her career development, she has continued to invest heavily in the wider maritime community. Re-elected to the Board of Shipping Professional Network London (SPNL) for a second term, she has led the organisation of more than 20 industry events, bringing together over 500 attendees and creating valuable opportunities for young professionals to connect with experienced leaders across the sector. Her work has also helped increase SPNL sponsorship revenue by 5% and membership by 10%, strengthening the organisation’s long-term impact.

Beyond SPNL, Melina has also joined the committee of WISTA UK, where she supports the organisation’s events, social media strategy, and engagement with younger professionals entering the maritime industry. Through both organisations, she has become a passionate advocate for attracting new talent into shipping while creating opportunities for learning, collaboration, and professional development.

What sets Melina apart is not only her enthusiasm for the industry, but her commitment to continuous learning and giving back. Alongside working full-time, she is studying for a Master’s degree in Maritime Law, successfully progressing through her legal training while balancing professional responsibilities and voluntary leadership roles.

Moving to London without an established maritime network presented its own challenges, yet Melina has built an impressive reputation through hard work, determination, and a genuine desire to support others. Her journey reflects resilience, ambition, and a belief that the future of shipping depends on investing in the next generation.

By combining professional excellence with meaningful industry contribution, Melina is helping strengthen not only her own organisation but the wider maritime community, making her a deserving member of this year’s 30 Under 30.
