Meet the team: Daryna Rozum

Daryna joined Spinnaker in January 2023 as a Reward Consultant, bringing with her a wealth of expertise and a passion for data analysis. Working alongside Lucy, Sandra, and Georgina, Daryna plays a vital role in the Salary Survey work, Market Analysis reports, and Information Exchanges for both the Maritime HR Association and the Seafarer Employers’ Association. With a highly data-driven role, Daryna spends much of her time working in Excel, where she meticulously validates the data provided by members before transforming it into clear, insightful reports that inform industry trends and decisions.

Before joining Spinnaker, Daryna lived in Ukraine, where she built a diverse professional background. She worked as a Senior British Partner Coordinator at Business Link, where she facilitated partnerships between UK and Ukrainian businesses. In addition, she worked as an editor and translator, providing academic paper translations and edits. Daryna’s passion for teaching also led her to privately tutor students in English, an endeavour she started while studying at university and continued throughout her career.

Daryna holds an impressive academic background, with three degrees to her name. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Philology from Nizhyn Gogal State University, followed by a Master’s Degree in English Translation Studies from the same institution. Daryna further pursued her academic ambitions and obtained a Master’s Degree in Economics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Her multifaceted education showcases her dedication to continual learning and the diverse skill set she brings to her role at Spinnaker.

Fluent in six languages, Daryna’s linguistic ability is an asset in her role. While she speaks each language to varying levels of fluency, her proficiency in English and Ukrainian is particularly strong, with additional skills in Polish, German, and Norwegian. This wide range of language skills enhances her ability to work with diverse global clients and teams, ensuring effective communication across cultural boundaries.

From a young age, Daryna had a keen interest in forensic analysis, a passion that stems from growing up in a family of scientists. Her childhood fascination with science and discovery was evident when her favourite toy was a cast brain model, an early sign of her analytical mindset. This scientific curiosity continues to influence her work, especially as she takes a detail-oriented approach to her responsibilities at Spinnaker.
