Overview
 
We are supporting a growing international organisation within the marine and heavy industry coatings sector in their search for a Technical Manager to lead their global technical function.
 
This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all technical operations, including field service support, product application, inspection, and customer technical assistance. You will act as the technical authority within the business, ensuring high-quality service delivery, strong customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across global operations.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage global technical operations, including field service and product application
• Act as the senior technical authority for complex issues and customer support
• Manage, develop, and mentor the technical and field service team
• Standardise processes and drive continuous improvement across technical operations
• Oversee planning and delivery of field service activities and inspections
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful execution
• Manage technical equipment, ensuring availability, compliance, and cost control
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards
• Support budgeting, resource planning, and cost optimisation

Key Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
• NACE / AMPP / FROSIO Coating Inspector certification (required or strongly preferred)
• Proven experience in marine coatings, technical services, or a related sector
• Experience leading or supervising technical or field service teams
• Strong technical knowledge of coatings application, inspection, and performance
• Ability to manage global operations and work across multiple environments
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness with a focus on efficiency and cost control

You will be based from home, however you must be willing to travel internationally when needed.
