Overview
A major international container terminal operator is seeking a Manager – Rolling Equipment & Welding to lead the maintenance and performance of critical container handling equipment.
You will lead a team overseeing maintenance activities across a wide range of mobile equipment including reach stackers, terminal tractors, straddle carriers and other container handling vehicles.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can motivate technical teams, optimise maintenance processes and ensure the reliability of equipment operating within one of Europe’s busiest container terminals.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 5 supervisors and approximately 30 technicians
- Foster a strong safety culture and collaborative working environment
- Provide clear direction, support and motivation across a diverse technical team
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
- Ensure the reliability and performance of terminal rolling equipment including reach stackers, terminal trucks, straddle carriers and forklifts
- Oversee preventive maintenance programmes to minimise equipment downtime
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues to maintain operational continuity
Maintenance Optimisation
- Improve maintenance processes, systems and working methods to enhance equipment productivity
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department
- Support the development of long-term maintenance strategies and KPIs
Operational Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Planning, Automation and HSSE teams
- Maintain strong communication between technical teams and terminal operations
- Support safe and efficient terminal activities through effective equipment management
Budget & Planning
- Contribute to maintenance planning and support the monitoring of maintenance budgets
- Ensure efficient use of resources, parts and technical personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 8-10 years of relevant experience maintaining or managing heavy mobile equipment
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in industrial environments
- Strong experience with maintenance operations, preventive maintenance and equipment reliability
- Knowledge of electrical systems and PLC-controlled equipment
- Experience working with heavy equipment such as terminal vehicles, cranes, mining equipment or industrial machinery
- Ability to motivate, coach and manage a diverse team of technicians
- Fluent in Dutch and English
- Based within commuting distance of Antwerp (site-based role)
