We are partnering with a well-established international marine organisation to appoint a Loss Prevention Officer for their Hong Kong office.
 
This is a newly created opportunity, ideal for a senior seagoing maritime professional looking to transition into a shore-based technical role, or someone with existing shore-based marine experience seeking a broader technical and claims-focused position within the marine insurance sector.
 
The role will sit primarily within the loss prevention function, with additional exposure to claims handling and wider member support activities where required. This is a technically focused role with strong international exposure.
 
The Role
 
As Loss Prevention Officer, you will provide technical expertise across a broad range of marine matters, supporting both internal teams and external members globally.

• Reviewing and assessing vessel condition and ship inspection reports
• Conducting vessel visits and technical inspections for members
• Providing technical advice and operational guidance across marine cases
• Supporting investigations into claims, including root cause analysis
• Delivering technical support across a range of marine incidents and claims
• Preparing technical presentations and educational materials for members
• Writing loss prevention articles and technical publications
• Assisting with marine claims handling where required
• Supporting commercial / marketing initiatives from a technical perspective

This role offers a strong mix of technical marine advisory work, incident investigation, vessel assessment, and member support.
 
Candidate Profile
 
We are keen to speak with experienced maritime professionals who bring strong practical shipboard expertise and sound technical judgement.

• Sailing experience as a Senior Officer across commercial vessel types
• Master Mariner or Chief Engineer background preferred
• Strong understanding of vessel operations, marine incidents, and technical problem solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• A collaborative and proactive working style
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders internationally
• Ability to travel globally at short notice when required
• Eligibility to live and work in Hong Kong

Additional advantages:

• Previous shore-based marine experience
• Exposure to claims, technical investigations, vetting, marine assurance, classification, or P&I
• Cantonese, Hindi, or Punjabi language capability
