CHARTERING & FLEET MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST – London
A well-established international shipping and trading group are offering a commercially focused opportunity for a Chartering & Fleet Management Specialist to join their Shipping Department in London.
The role will sit as a dual-function position, sitting at the intersection of commercial chartering and fleet operations, covering LPG, crude oil and refined products across owned, time time-chartered and spot-chartered tonnage. You will balance the needs of internal trading desks with the strategic objective of maximising the commercial performance of the group’s fleet, working closely with brokers, technical managers and senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiating and managing voyage charters, time charters, bareboat agreements and Contracts of Affreightment (COAs) to meet the requirements of internal trading and group entities
- Marketing and chartering out owned and TC-in vessels to third-party charterers when not required for group business, acting as a competitive independent owner/operator
- Monitoring freight rate fluctuations and market trends to advise on optimal chartering strategies and provide voyage economics input to senior management
- Performing voyage estimations, bunker planning and route optimisation to maintain competitive freight rates and healthy margins
- Managing the full post-fixture lifecycle — from voyage orders and nominations through to freight settlement and demurrage support
- Acting as the primary commercial interface with Technical Managers to coordinate dry-docking, repairs and inspections without disrupting trading schedules
- Maintaining the fleet’s Oil Major Approved status through SIRE/CDI vetting coordination
- Ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations, group risk policies, sanctions, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and CII/EEXI reporting requirements
What we are looking for:
- Chartering professionals with a solid track record across both tanker and LPG sectors.
- Ability to source third-party vessels, identifying and capturing market arbitrage opportunities outside of internal cargo flows.
- 5-10+ years of experience in chartering and fleet operations, ideally within a dual owner/operator and trading house environment.
- Solid analytical capability for voyage optimisation, market evaluation and voyage economics.
- Proficiency in maritime software, ideally Veson IMOS.
- A Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping Finance, Logistics or a related discipline is preferred.
