Country Head of Operation & Logistics

Location: Port Klang
 
A senior leadership position is available with a leading international shipping and logistics organization in Malaysia. The role will be responsible for driving operational excellence and logistics efficiency across the Malaysian network. 
 
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be at the forefront of strategic planning and execution, ensuring world-class service delivery while optimising costs and resources.
 
The ideal candidate will bring a balanced skill set across both operations and logistics, with hands-on experience in terminal operations, vendor management, and equipment fleet optimization. You will be a decisive leader who can drive performance across multiple locations whilst maintaining strong collaborative relationships with ports, terminals, and service providers.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Manage terminal and port operations across Malaysia, ensuring fast vessel turnaround times, minimal berth delays, and strong collaborative relationships with port authorities and terminal operators
• Lead tender processes, contract negotiations, and bid management with terminals, depots, and service providers to secure competitive rates and service agreements
• Oversee container fleet and equipment management, optimizing asset deployment, reducing idle times, and controlling repair costs to exceed corporate KPIs
• Drive continuous cost efficiency across all operations through performance analysis while maintaining high service quality and meeting financial targets
• Lead, mentor, and develop multi-site operations teams across multiple locations, fostering a culture of excellence and providing strategic guidance

Essential Requirements

• 10 years’ experience in senior operational management roles within shipping, logistics, or port operations.
• Proven tender management experience & strong equipment/asset management background.
• Exceptional team leadership skills with experience managing large, multi-site teams.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
