Vessel Manager – RoRo/RoPax
Location: Netherlands and England
Contract: 6-12 month Fixed-Term Contract (duration flexible depending on candidate availability)
We are currently supporting a leading maritime operator with the appointment of a Vessel Manager to oversee a small fleet of RoRo / RoPax vessels operating between the UK and the Netherlands.
This is a hands-on vessel management position, responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of two vessels. The successful candidate will work closely with onboard and shore-based teams, providing technical and operational oversight while ensuring high standards of safety, reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall technical and operational management of two RoRo / RoPax vessels.
- Direct management of Masters and Chief Engineers, leading a team of approximately 12 personnel.
- Management and control of multi-million annual vessel budgets.
- Monitoring vessel performance, maintenance activities and regulatory compliance.
- Supporting dry dockings, repairs, inspections and planned maintenance activities.
- Liaising with classification societies, flag administrations and external stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance and support to vessel crews.
- Ensuring company standards, safety procedures and operational requirements are maintained.
- Travelling regularly with the vessels and between UK and Dutch ports as required.
Requirements
- Previous shore-based vessel management experience is essential.
- Experience as Master/ Chief Officer /Chief Engineer/ 2nd Engineer Officer. All ranks will be considered with suitable experience.
- Experience managing RoRo, RoPax or passenger vessels is essential.
- Strong understanding of technical, operational and regulatory requirements within the ferry or passenger vessel sector.
- Proven experience managing vessel budgets and leading shipboard personnel.
- Comfortable working in an on-call environment and responding to operational requirements outside standard office hours.
- Willingness & ability to travel regularly between the UK and the Netherlands.
