Senior Legal Counsel

We are working with a maritime business that is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team in Dubai.
  
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced shipping lawyer to take on a varied, hands-on in-house role with significant responsibility across a global maritime operation. The work will be predominantly non-contentious and transactional, with a focus on charterparties, carriage and towage agreements, vessel transactions, shipbuilding contracts, financing, joint ventures, corporate matters, regulatory issues and insurance. There will also be some exposure to disputes, compliance and wider commercial contracts.
  
The role would suit a UK or common law qualified lawyer with a strong shipping background and around 7–10 years’ relevant shipping experience. The successful candidate will be confident drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex maritime and commercial agreements, managing their own matters independently and working closely with commercial stakeholders.
  
Ideal profile:
  

• 7-10 PQE (English or common law)
• Strong experience in shipping transactional work, including charterparties, vessel transactions and related commercial agreements
• Good knowledge of contract law and maritime/shipping law
• Experience with corporate, finance, insurance, compliance or disputes work would be beneficial
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• A personable, professional and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work autonomously.

  
The role is full time and based in Dubai. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.
