Systems Engineer | Shipping Vessel IT | Shipboard Systems | Maritime Technology
Location: Dubai / UAE preferred, with travel as required

We’re supporting a rapidly growing maritime group in the appointment of a Systems Engineer to strengthen its internal technology capability across its growing shipping operations.

This is a newly created role working alongside the Head of Projects, IT & Software and closely with the company’s Technical Management team.

The requirement has a strong vessel technology focus. We’re looking for someone who understands the IT infrastructure, hardware, connectivity and systems used onboard vessels, and who can help support, troubleshoot and improve the technology connecting vessels with shore-based operations.

The Role
You’ll work across vessel and shore-based technology, supporting the systems and infrastructure required to operate a growing fleet.

Responsibilities are likely to include:

• Supporting and troubleshooting shipboard IT systems and hardware.
• Vessel networks, servers, workstations and associated infrastructure.
• VSAT, Starlink, LTE and ship-to-shore connectivity.
• Network configuration, VPNs, VLANs, firewalls and security.
• Supporting vessel technology installations, upgrades and deployments.
• Working with Technical Management, vessel crews and external technology providers.
• Understanding shipboard equipment, associated technologies and relevant marine vendors.
• Supporting integration between vessel and shore-based systems.
• Contributing to wider technology, automation and digitalisation projects across the group.
• Helping CPG bring greater technology capability and ownership in-house.

About You
You’ll ideally come from a Vessel IT, Marine IT, Fleet IT, Maritime Systems, IT/OT or similar technical environment.

We’re particularly interested in experience across:

• IT systems and infrastructure onboard vessels.
• Maritime communications and vessel connectivity.
• Networking and systems administration.
• Shipboard hardware and technology.
• Troubleshooting within operational vessel environments.
• Knowledge of maritime technology vendors and equipment.
• Working with Technical Management, superintendents, crew and/or external suppliers.

Experience with software integration, cloud technology, automation, APIs or data would be useful, but this is no longer primarily a software development position.

Most importantly, you’ll be comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment where the internal technology function is still being built.
