We’re supporting a rapidly growing maritime group in the appointment of a Systems Engineer to help build the next generation of technology across its shipping operations.
 
This is a newly created role within a growing internal technology function. Working alongside the Head of Projects, IT & Software, you’ll help design, build and integrate software solutions that improve operational efficiency, automate processes and support the company’s wider digital transformation strategy.
 
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems through technology and wants to make a tangible impact within a fast-growing maritime business.
 
The Role:
You’ll work across a broad range of technology initiatives, developing internal applications, integrating business systems and supporting the delivery of new digital products alongside external development partners.
As the company continues to expand, you’ll play an important role in bringing more software capability in-house while helping deliver innovative solutions across shipping operations.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop internal software solutions.
• Build tools that improve operational efficiency and automate business processes.
• Work alongside third-party software vendors to deliver new functionality.
• Support systems, software and data integration projects.
• Develop and maintain cloud-based applications and services.
• Contribute to AI, machine learning and automation initiatives.
• Help build scalable technology solutions that support business growth.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and continuously improve existing systems.

 
About You:
You’ll be a hands-on software engineer who enjoys building practical solutions and working closely with operational stakeholders.
 
We’re interested in individuals with experience across:

• Full-stack software development.
• Modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Cloud platforms and distributed applications.
• Systems integration and API development.
• SQL, databases and data warehousing.
• Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
• Software architecture and solution design.
• Problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Experience within shipping, logistics or another operational industry would be highly beneficial, although candidates from adjacent sectors with strong technical capability are also encouraged to apply.
