  • Respond to vessel-screening requirements from terminals and charterers.
  • Review ship-specific operating manuals and associated marine procedures.
  • Provide operational support relating to navigational, cargo-handling and mooring equipment.
  • Support vessels during assessments by certification and inspection authorities.
  • Attend SIRE inspections and support TMSA audits.
  • Assist with internal audits and navigational audits.
  • Support the Company Security Officer with vessel-security matters.
  • Provide guidance on the education and training of vessel crews.
  • Monitor compliance with charter-party performance warranties and other customer requirements.
  • Support risk assessments and investigations into marine incidents.
  • Assist with new projects and wider ship-operation management activities.
  • Liaise effectively with vessel Masters, office-based colleagues, customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure audits and related activities are carried out in a cost-effective manner.

Essential requirements

  • Command-level Deck Certificate of Competency.
  • At least one year’s service in a senior management capacity aboard gas carriers, or an equivalent level of experience considered appropriate by the Marine Manager.
  • Strong practical knowledge of LNG or gas-carrier cargo operations.
  • Good understanding of navigation, mooring and vessel-operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with ship-shore compatibility procedures, including SIGTTO questionnaires or equivalent customer requirements.
  • Understanding of charter parties and vessel-performance warranties.
  • Familiarity with SIRE inspections, TMSA and internal and external marine audits.
  • Internal Auditor certification.
  • Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation and Analysis training.
  • Good understanding of crewing requirements and oil-major employment criteria.
