Inhouse Legal Counsel – London

A global shipowner is expanding the legal team and is seeking a legal and claims professional to join the team in London. 

Key responsibilities

• Provide in-house guidance on legal, contractual and operational issues arising from the fleet of vessels 
• Advise on charterparty disputes and contractual risks.
• Offer sanctions advice to internal stakeholders.
• Assess claim exposure and provide pragmatic recommendations 
• Handle shipping claims in collaboration with internal teams, external counterparties, P&I clubs and defence lawyers.
• Review shipping contracts and supply agreements

You will work with experienced colleagues across multiple jurisdictions and mentor junior members of the team. Support high-value operational and contractual matters and play an important part in helping the business manage risk while maintaining a practical, customer-focused approach.

This opportunity would suit a shipping disputes professional who has 5-10 years’ experience handling dry shipping and contractual claims (FD&D).
