Shipping Market Analyst | Boston

Spinnaker is looking to speak with Market Analysts at all levels, from early-career professionals to experienced specialists, for opportunities with an established maritime technology business in Boston.

Our client provides shipping market intelligence, forecasting and vessel valuation solutions to banks, investors, shipowners and other maritime organisations globally.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience or an interest in containership, tanker, PCTC (car carriers) and offshore vessel markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse shipping market trends, supply and demand, freight rates and vessel valuations.
• Develop and maintain quantitative forecasting models and market datasets.
• Produce market reports, forecasts and commercial insights.
• Assess the impact of geopolitical developments, trade flows and changing market conditions.
• Support client-facing analysis and the development of market intelligence products.

What We’re Looking For:

• Background in shipping research, market analysis, economics, finance or a related quantitative discipline.
• Knowledge of one or more relevant shipping markets, depending on experience.
• Strong analytical and quantitative modelling skills, particularly Excel; Python, R or SQL advantageous.
• Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly.
• Relevant degree in Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, Engineering or a related field.
