The Opportunity:
Spinnaker is supporting an early-stage, VC-backed maritime technology start-up in the search for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
 
The business is developing a first-of-its-kind autonomous AI platform designed to transform procurement and operational processes across commercial shipping. Having already secured investment and achieved early commercial milestones, the company is now looking to strengthen its technical leadership as it prepares to scale.
 
This is an opportunity to join at an early stage, work directly with the founder and play a key role in shaping the future of an innovative maritime technology product.
 
The Role:
Working alongside an existing engineering team, you will take ownership of technical architecture, support product development and help scale a complex AI-driven platform.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical architecture and development across AI agents, LLMs and backend systems.
• Provide hands-on expertise in Python, software engineering and system integrations.
• Challenge architectural decisions and establish scalable engineering practices.
• Guide the existing engineering team and contribute to the wider technology roadmap.
• Work closely with the founder to translate business objectives into technical solutions.

 
Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with Python, LLM architecture, AI agents and scalable backend systems.
• Experience designing and developing complex software products.
• Previous technical leadership experience, ideally within a start-up or scale-up.
• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations and software architecture.
• Maritime, shipping or procurement experience would be highly advantageous.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to remain hands-on.
