In 2005 Spinnaker’s CEO Phil Parry was approached by a group of large shipowners and operators in the maritime industry who were looking for a way to benchmark the salaries of their shore-based employees.
The need was for real and current data from individual employees and not just recruitment data. The Maritime HR Association was launched shortly after with the aim of helping organisations ensure that the salaries they offer are fair and competitive, which can in turn help attract and retain top talent.
The Maritime HR Association now boasts 110 members, with salary and bonus reports produced annually. These reports are recognised as the most comprehensive and reliable in the shipping industry globally.
Spinnaker’s annual salary reports are made up of salary and bonus data from employees from 110 shipping companies worldwide.
These companies provide Spinnaker with anonymised salary, allowance and bonus data for all shore-based employees globally, which is then included in the survey.
Participants in the salary survey become members of the Maritime HR Association who receive additional annual benefits including gender pay reports, a ticket to the annual maritime people & culture conference and participation in regular information exchanges including salary and bonus projections for the year ahead.
Salary reports are available annually to participants in the survey from the 1st of November.
HR departments, CEOs and CFOs of shipowners, shipmanagers, commodity groups and oil majors worldwide would benefit from the Spinnaker salary reports.
Participants in the salary survey represent all trades including bulk, chemical, container, crude, cruise, LNG, LPG and product carriers.
The benchmarking report is industry-focused and specific. You can’t find another one in the market focusing on maritime industry comparison.
