SWEDISH PEOPLE – NOT JUST PRETTY FACES

THE Swedish Club celebrated its 140th anniversary last month with a superb conference, fantastic entertainment, the annual Swedish Club Mutual Cup football match and its AGM.

Spinnaker’s Chairman was honoured to be asked to take part in the conference and donned straps for his dodgy knees to join Team International as they took on the Swedes in the football. A rowdy group of lawyers, insurance brokers and claims experts cheered on the players as the visitors went on to a 6-1 victory over the hosts (some say it was a ‘commercial result’).

The conference itself? Well, too much good stuff to repeat. The excellent Peter Economides from Felix BNI hosted a panel comprising Spinnaker’s Phil Parry, Seaspan CEO Rob Grool and Wallenius Lines’ CEO Anders Boman. Economides is a branding expert and captured the audience’s attention just as he did at Maritime Cyprus last October.

We’ll leave you with two snippets but we do recommend you follow the link below to the Swedish Club magazine Triton for the full report: “The good things in life are brought to us by ships.” “Brand is reputation, not advertising.”
