THERE was some fighting talk at the PYNDA conference and some major concerns from the industry not least as far as Iranian sanctions were concerned. David Brummond, Senior Sanctions Advisor from the US Treasury, bravely faced the crowd to explain the US stance. Delegates and speakers from the law, P&I and ship registry wondered what will happen to ships if, for example, they can’t get P&I cover from the International Group and are involved in an oil spill?

And, if new US proposals go ahead, we wonder will anyone even be able to talk to someone from Iran without breaching the rules?
