ORGANISATION PROBLEMS REVEALED

INTERESTINGLY while a ‘committee-based’ approach to recruitment is an entirely understandable sign of the times in some organisations, in others it is a sign of a more deep-rooted problem with management or organizational structures and one that endures whatever the economic climate.

Organisations that have clear delegation of decision-making authority and in which, by definition, senior management trust each other and those that report to them, suffer far less from internal politics and in-fighting and have better levels of staff retention. Cover-your-back may well be appropriate in the current climate where there is a spirit of “we’re all in this together,” but it isn’t good advice for long term health.
