Spinnaker Global has launched a new initiative to help the local community this Christmas. For every day of Advent, Spinnaker is collecting a "reverse Advent calendar" – staff are invited to bring in long-life food for the Southend Food Bank for people who really need it, particularly at a difficult time of year.
1 in 5 people in Britain live below the poverty line, and in 2015 3,000 emergency food parcels were given out to families in need in Southend-on-Sea, the closest large town to Spinnaker Global.
December is a particularly important time to donate to Food Banks as stocks historically plummet due to colder weather conditions creating more people requiring donations from food bank distribution centres.
Starting on Thursday 1 December, Spinnaker staff will be split into teams and given designated days to donate as much food as possible for hampers to be delivered to the Food Bank up until Christmas Eve.
